BSTN is committed to serving the public good.
Our dedication to pro bono work is a core aspect of our culture. Members of our firm believe not only in a lawyer’s social responsibility, but that we all benefit when the legal system is accessible to everyone.
Those views continue to thrive at BSTN. We encourage all of our lawyers to become involved with public service at every stage of their careers. Our lawyers regularly work on ongoing pro bono representations and we believe that it is our obligation to volunteer our skills to those who would otherwise face severe challenges as victims of injustice or abuse without legal representation.
Our pro bono efforts extend across our offices and also to international society. BSTN attorneys from various offices donate their time, skill, and energy to improving the lives of fellow citizens in Pacific and Caribean developing countries. We support an array of governmental organizations and not-for-profit organizations, many of which work to redress legal wrongs and ameliorate humanitarian problems well beyond their own national borders.
Each year BSTN holds a Pro Bono Week to highlight and galvanize these efforts in every office.
Sustainability

BSTN is also committed to the conservation of resources and environmental sustainability. Along with many of our clients, we have achieved substantial reductions in waste, energy use and indirect carbon emissions and make further reductions a priority.
We share best practices across our global network that reduce the environmental footprint of our operations, our employees and our suppliers.
Our ongoing efforts include our engagements with the United Nations Climate Summit, the Ocean Conference, International Law Commission’s report on sea-level rise, and the both Global Compact for Migration and Refugees.
